Seals & O Rings
Oil Seals
Are available in a variety of types including R21 (rubber-covered), R4 (metal-cased), Standard (metal-cased leather), R22 (metal cased, rubber covered), R23 (rubber-covered with dust lip), R5 (double-sprung) and R6 (metal-cased with dust lip).
Nitrile rubber provides the normal sealing medium but Viton tends to be used for high temperatures or chemical-handling applications.
Most oils seals are designed to handle 0.5 bar pressure, however, PTFE seals can hold pressures of up to 10 bar. Split seals can be used to avoid having to dismount heavy machinery.
O Rings
Materials available include Nitrile (Buna), Viton, Silicone, EPDM, PTFE, Chloroprene (Neoprene) and Polyurethane.
O Rings are able to accommodate a wide range of operating temperatures; they can also withstand most chemicals.
