N Type Cylindrical Roller Bearings
How Cylindrical Roller Bearing Types Differ (N, NU, NJ, NUP)
Cylindrical roller bearings are defined by the rib (flange) arrangement on the inner and outer rings. This determines how much axial load they can support and whether they act as a locating, non‑locating, or semi‑locating bearing.
N Type – Non‑Locating Bearing
- Inner Ring Ribs: Two
- Outer Ring Ribs: None
- Axial Load: Cannot support axial load
- Function: Free‑end / floating bearing
- Use Case: Allows the inner ring to move freely in both axial directions — ideal where thermal expansion must be absorbed without binding.
