External Circlips (Retaining Rings for Shafts)
External circlips are designed to fit tightly around a shaft, engaging with a groove on the outer diameter to provide a secure shoulder that resists axial movement of components along the shaft. A significant benefit of the external design is its ability to save space in compact assemblies.
- Application: Ideal for use on motor shafts, axles, and pin assemblies.
- Design Note: They exert inward pressure on the shaft groove.
- Sizing Example: A 1/2" shaft requires a 1/2" External Circlip (DIN 471 standard equivalent).
